ABC’s Mistresses
JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL!!!!! Those are my thoughts as I look at this title and wonder what in the world is going on? ABC actually has a new show coming out called Mistresses! Could this really be a show glorifying the sideline tramps OR maybe it’s a show about how dangerous it is to sleep with another woman’s husband? I actually have no idea and that is why I chose to do this blog. I must get to the bottom of this and prove to myself that America has not lost its marbles!
So I’m giving ABC the benefit of the doubt. I started on the “about” page of the site to see how THEY describe their show and this is what it says:
Based on the hit UK television series of the same name, Mistresses is a provocative and thrilling drama about the scandalous lives of a sexy and sassy group of four girlfriends, each on her own path to self-discovery.
Let’s Talk Birth Control With Tonya Lewis Lee
What a beauty! It’s Tonya Lewis Lee, the brilliant Queen that upgraded Spike Lee’s life by becoming his wife! I’ve covered Tonya on this blog before and will continue to because she always has good information concerning women.
If you love to be informed on women’s health issues you should visit her website Healthy You Now on the regular. I visit her site all of the time because it is PACKED with health related info. I recently read one of the features on the site titled Sex, Love and Birth Control: A Twitter Chat. It revolves around Tonya chatting with 4 other ladies for “an open and honest conversation about birth control.” The ladies discussed many sides of birth control like how they found their perfect method, spotting, how to discuss options with their partners and the all too common shame surrounding purchasing condoms.
One of the ladies made a statement that stuck with me. She said “The more comfortable you are just with your sexuality the more comfortable you are with birth control; and knowing what your options are is just another part of your health.”
The Addams Family-A New Musical Comedy
If you are a reader of this blog, you know that I love, love, love the arts. Living in the South, we tend to get left out on tour dates revolving around things of culture. I put forth an effort to get my readers to see plays and musicals hoping they will fall into a habit of checking them out if they do come to their city.
With that being said, The Addams Family-A New Musical Comedy is on tour and coming to a city near you……..and me! That’s right, the musical’s tour dates will include the South and more specifically Jackson, MS. This is a perfect opportunity to introduce your kids to musicals and characters that you grew up on.

Pat Robertson Speaks On Cheating Husbands
Listen up, listen up, Pat Robertson has something to say! As a regular part of The 700 Club, Pat invites millions of viewers to send in questions they may have about life, love, finances, morality, and what it means to be a Christian.
Well, his recent advice to a hurting wife has sparked quite the conversation. The wife writes in:

Drew Barrymore Really Does Have It All
It’s the ever so bubbly Wifed Up Queen Drew Barrymore! I have loved her since her childhood movie E.T. Her free spirit has always drawn me in and every time I see her I can’t help but smile. What a quality to have huh?
This little lady has been in the business FOREVER. She’s done it all from acting, directing to producing. She also has a new beautiful family. She recently wed Will Kopelman, so she can now add wife and mother to her plate. Yep, this flower child is mommy to Olive, her beautiful 6 month old daughter.
Looking from the outside most would say Drew has it all. Career, husband, and baby. However, she has revealed that women “having it all” is not as realistic as we may choose to believe.
Drew was recently at Lucky Magazine’s Fashion and Beauty Blog Conference where she spoke of having it all:
I can’t and I don’t. It sucks when you’ve worked really hard for certain things and you have to give them up because you know that you’re going to miss out on your child’s upbringing, or you realize that your relationship has suffered.
What “certain things” has she made the choice to give up?
Google Launches YouTube Paid-Subscription Channels
Who didn’t see this coming? According to Businessweek, Google’s YouTube site is changing the way it does business. Thursday they announced a pilot run of paid subscriptions that includes on-demand content from 30 channels. Subscription prices start at $.99 a month, but many channels offer a discounted yearly rate.
The program is launching with channels from National Geographic Kids, the Professional Golfer’s Association, Ultimate Fighting Championship and HDNet. Every channel currently offered has a 14-day trial period with monthly billing beginning immediately after.

Motown The Musical
Motown The Musical is here people and it is one of this season’s must-see Broadway hits. The website for the musical describes it as this:

Of course we all want to see who is playing Diana Ross & Berry Gordy right? The talented Valisia LeKae plays Diana. Ms. LeKae is a southern girl from Memphis, TN. She is also the winner of a 2013 Theatre World Award, nominated for 2013 Tony, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical.
